Your responsibilities

  • Supervise and support the Compliance & Payments Officers by providing leadership, training, and ensuring high-quality, customer-focused service to both internal and external clients.
  • Execute international payment runs, including timesheet and invoice reconciliation, batch and manual payments, and investigate any rejected transactions.
  • Approve contractual documentation for placements, extensions, amendments, and contract terminations.
  • Handle complex contractor and client queries, investigate discrepancies, and support reconciliation of documents and information across departments.
  • Ensure compliance with client terms by reviewing and approving key documents and managing audit-related updates and requests.
  • Collaborate with the Legal team to ensure contractual compliance and mitigate legal risk.
  • Monitor compliance requirements for overseas jurisdictions, identifying potential tax issues and escalating to Legal when appropriate.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with contractors, clients, and third parties, ensuring all compliance documentation is accurate and up to date.
  • Keep internal compliance documents and guidance up to date with current legislation, company policies, and terms of business.
  • Provide both regular and ad-hoc reporting (e.g. team accuracy metrics) to key stakeholders and the CFO.
  • Offer flexible support to the UK Compliance & Payments Team during peak periods, holidays, or special projects.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality and data protection in all aspects of work.

Our requirements

  • Solid experience in managing or supporting teams within a Compliance, Payments, or Operations function. Previous experience in the recruitment industry is a strong advantage.
  • Excellent command of the English language, both written and verbal, with confidence in working with legal and contractual terminology - mandatory.
  • Exposure to international payments, timesheet processing, and invoice reconciliation.
  • Hands-on experience in handling commercial contracts and work orders - particularly in a recruitment or contractor-based environment.
  • Proven ability to identify and minimize business risk, ensure legal compliance, and maintain high standards of accuracy and timeliness.
  • A strong understanding of the interdependencies between Compliance & Payments and other departments such as Sales, Legal, Credit Control, and Finance.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively while maintaining a structured and methodical approach.
  • A high level of assertiveness, professionalism, and the ability to collaborate across teams and departments with respect and tact.
  • Strong customer service orientation and ability to handle client and contractor queries efficiently and professionally.
