What We Need

• QA Leadership: Experienced quality engineer who can build testing processes from scratch. You've seen what works and what doesn't across different organizations and technologies.
• Self-Organization: Highly self-organized professional who can work independently without hand-holding. You take ownership of your work and drive initiatives forward autonomously.
• Technical Versatility: Comfortable with both manual and automated testing. Experience with modern web technologies, APIs, and ideally some exposure to 3D/visual testing challenges.
• Systematic Thinking: The ability to look at complex systems and identify what could go wrong, then build processes to prevent it.
• Tool Flexibility: We currently use Jest and Postman/Insomnia, but you'll have freedom to choose additional tools that fit our needs best.
• Visual Acuity: Understanding that 3D configurators require special testing approaches - some visual elements require systematic manual verification processes.

Fair warning: This isn't a typical QA role where you follow existing procedures. You'll write the procedures. But for the right person, it could be the most impactful QA position you've ever held.

Your responsibilities

1. You won't be joining an established QA department. There isn't one. You'll be it.
2. You'll inherit a complex 3D configurator platform that's been battle-tested by paying customers but never had dedicated quality assurance. Testing happens - from studio workers to developers to leadership - but it's distributed across the team rather than systematically coordinated. There's room to make our testing much more structured and comprehensive.
3. You'll work with technology that pushes web browsers to their limits - 3D graphics, complex state management, intricate Shopify integrations, and PDF generations that must be pixel-perfect. When something breaks in production, real businesses feel it immediately.
4. Some days you'll be crafting test automation for React components and APIs. Other days you'll be manually verifying UI/UX flows and visual details across browsers and devices. Since our product is fundamentally visual-based, testing user interface interactions and visual accuracy is just as critical as automated tests for business rules and integrations. You'll test systems that span multiple touchpoints, each with their own quirks and failure modes.
5. The visual nature of our product means automated testing can only go so far. Critical visual elements - how a 3D model looks, whether colors render accurately, if UI elements align properly - these require systematic manual testing processes.
