We accept students, graduates and young professionals, Open to passport holders of European Union (EU) member countries only., Applicants should be prepared for post-acceptance fees and start-up funds. After you are accepted by the U.S. Host Employer, you pay the required government fees: SEVIS I-901 (220USD) and the U.S. J-1 visa application fee / MRV (185USD). In addition, GCB charges a 600USD Visa Support / Program Processing fee. Airfare is purchased and paid by the candidate after the visa is approved. Candidates should also arrive with pocket money to cover initial living expenses (e.g., housing deposit/first rent if housing is not provided, transportation, food) until the first paycheck. Under the employer-paid model, the Host Employer covers the program fee (approximately $4,000) associated with the J-1 placement/J1 Visa Sponsor program costs., J-1 Internship – Typical Eligibility: Currently enrolled in a post-secondary degree program outside the U.S., or Graduated from a post-secondary program within the last 12 months, in a field related to the placement., J-1 Trainee – Typical Eligibility: Post-secondary degree in a related field plus at least 1 year of related work experience outside the U.S., or At least 5 years of related work experience outside the U.S. (if no degree), subject to Sponsor rules., English Proficiency: Intermediate to Advanced English (B1/B2+ minimum) with the ability to: Interview in English, Communicate clearly with supervisors and guests/customers, Understand training instructions, policies, and safety guidelines. English level is verified during the screening process (call/video interview).
