Requirements description

Experience & technical foundations

• 5+ years of experience as a software developer.
• 2 years+ of proven experience leading a team of 5+ engineers
• Strong technical fundamentals of software development (FE, BE, Infrastructure)
• Experience with SaaS or multi-tenant systems is a plus

Leadership & delivery

• High ownership and strong delivery instincts
• Ability to prioritise, drive clarity, and make pragmatic decisions
• Assertive communication — including saying “no” when needed
• Calm, structured, and effective under pressure

Team & people management

• Experience mentoring senior engineers
• Comfortable driving accountability and structured feedback
• Excellent collaboration with Product, Design, and other teams

Ways of working

• Solid understanding of Agile delivery

Role Mission

We are looking for a leader who will enable the engineering team to consistently deliver high-quality software by creating a healthy engineering culture, driving execution, and developing engineers to perform at their best. Own the delivery, execution, and leadership of an engineering team responsible for the core systems that power bookings, payments, marketplace logic, and venue manager operations.

You will ensure that the team consistently delivers high-quality software, makes sound architectural decisions, and operates with clarity, accountability, and speed.

Your responsibilities

1. Lead delivery and raise engineering excellence
2. Manage and develop a backend team of 6–8 engineers, fostering ownership, clarity, and accountability
3. Drive predictable delivery: sprint outcomes, velocity, planning, and execution
4. Remove blockers quickly and ensure consistent delivery of high-impact work
5. Strengthen technical depth and architecture quality
6. Work closely with our Principal Developer to set backend standards and improve system quality
